Purposefully Made Ministries Vision

Many children with disabilities do not attend school in their communities because of the lack of resources, long distances, and stigma attached to children with disabilities in Kenya. Due to the lack of education, many people view children with disabilities as being "cursed or possessed," and these children are sometimes looked upon as outcasts in their communities. Purposefully Made Ministries strives to provide children, their teachers and caretakers with crucial tools for inclusion and development of children with disabilities.

Our Founder

Katherine Rodgers developed a strong passion for serving children and those in need when she was a little girl. Because of her love for children, she received a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary/Special Education (PreK-6) as well as a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Samford University. Rodgers has been a teacher in both the exceptional education classroom (preschool inclusion) and general education classroom (2nd grade inclusion).

In college, Katherine traveled to the Dominican Republic and Haiti for a summer to work with Three Trees Ministries, a local children’s ministry. Her love for children and passion for serving others grew immensely during her time there.

In 2017, Katherine went to Uganda to serve in a children's home, Sozo Children, and she fell in love with Africa. In 2018, she worked with Zoe Ministries, which provides a home for abandoned or neglected children in Kenya. Just a few weeks after her time in Kenya, she traveled to Uganda where she worked with Sozo Children again.

When the plane landed after her 2018 trip to Africa, an overwhelming sense of peace flooded her heart and confirmed her calling from the Lord that Africa was where He was leading her. Africa was home.

Katherine trusts the Lord to continue to guide her steps along this wonderful journey and prays to be a light for His kingdom wherever He may send her.

Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
